Behind The Lens

Location

Taking photos in my bedroom is one of my favorite places to shoot. The large windows drew me to our home and some of my favorite pictures are taken there.

Time

The afternoon lighting is awesome in the front of our home, where this photo was taken.

Lighting

Natural lighting is my favorite way to shoot.

Equipment

This photo was taken with my Nikon D3400, with an AF-S 50mm 1:1.8G lens, no flash, and edited in Lightroom.

Inspiration

I adore taking photos of my cats, and especially kittens. Ragdolls darken as they age, so its always fun to see how their colors deepen as they grow.

Editing

Edits included exposure, highlights, white balance and cropping.

In my camera bag

I actually don't carry a lot of equipment around. I love the size/weight of my fixed aperture lens, and unless im going to one of my kids sporting events, I keep it pretty basic and don't take any extra equipment with me. Maybe an extra battery!

Feedback

I love the way animals look in natural light! There are so many different things you can focus your shot on with a cat, from their eyes, to whiskers, to those little ear tufts or toes.
