Behind The Lens

Location

BACHARACH. From a park long the Rhine's river bank. I align the war memorial, the town tower and the castle, Burg Stahleck, without each blocking each other. The war memorial is an old, neglected war memorial with panels honoring the sons of Bacharach who died for the Kaiser in 1864 against Denmark, 1866 against Austria, 1870 against France, and in 1914 in WWI. The town tower is part of a medieval hotel, Hotel Kranenturm. Burg Stahleck is a hostel with awesome views of the Rhine River and Barcharach. In this tour, I visited the wine regions of the Romantic Rhine, Mosel valley and Alsace.

Time

It was take at 3:30 pm with low sun light as it was drizzling now and then.

Lighting

Lighting was soft and overcast.

Equipment

Nikon D750 with Nikkor AF-S 20mm f1.8 G ED. Handheld as I was hiking from the castle to the town centre.

Inspiration

I was documenting what I see, capturing three objects in one photo.

Editing

Yes, in DXO photolab 3. Bring in the details in the shadows and darkening the highlights.

In my camera bag

Nikon D750 with Nikkor AF-S 20mm f1.8 lens, AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR. Ricoh G3 for street photography. No photo stand as I was backpacking, taking public transport like the trains, bus or hike.
