Location
I took this photo in one of the streets of my hometown, Puebla, Puebla, Mexico. Nancy is a pro model, and we decided to work together, as she was my pupil in a photography college course.Time
It was about 11 o'clock in the morning, on a bit cloudy day.Lighting
I used a 2x.80 meters white reflector about 90 degrees from the wall, and take advantage of the same reflected light from the wall.Equipment
My old Nikon D5200, and a AF-S DX VR Nikkor 55-300mm. No tripod and no flash. Besides, I must tell you I never use flashes. Only available or natural light.Inspiration
We were shooting for about an hour and I wanted to use a wall full of graffitis on it, but then I realized that clouds have just covered the sun and I asked Nancy to explore some poses very near the wall and then again, I choose to go near that wall too and change the angle. We both love that light, but the shadow was too strong on her, so I asked one of my assistants to use the reflector. In the beginning, Nancy wasn't touching her hair, so I suggested her to do so, and this is one of the photos that we got. We were trying with these conditions for about 15 minutes. Glad you like it.Editing
Yes. I used Pixelmator Pro, but in this particular case, I only work on the detail of her blouse (a bit sharpening), and on the shadows of her hair (a bit of brightness). I added also a very light vignette. In my camera bag
My camera, Nikon D5200, two lenses: AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm and AF-S DX VR Nikkor 55-300mm, two batteries, my tripod and a facial reflector (35cm diameter). When needed, I carry two one-meter reflectors and the big one I mentioned. BTW, all the reflectors are silver, golden, white, black, and transparent, as I prefer.Feedback
First of all, build a confident relationship with the model. She or he must feel comfortable with you, your style and your commitment to make great photos. Second, explore and explore, with lights and shadows, with poses and composition, with angles and backgrounds. You eventually will find that photo or those photos you want. Some tech data of this photo. f/9, 1/2000s, 195mm, ISO 100.
