Location
This photo was taken in National Zoological Park in Delhi. I am a self-taught photographer and regularly visit the zoo as it is one of the few places where I can try taking live shots of different animals.Time
This is probably one of my favourite images. I remember taking my friend to the zoo to show him around and we were walking by the aviary and we saw this bird. It was the most colourful of them and was pretty large. There was a crowd of people in front of the glass, so I moved to the side and used my telephoto lens to take this shot. The time was during the afternoon so had beautiful soft light. The telephoto lens made sure that any smudgings on the glass were eliminated from the photo.Lighting
The day itself was a bit overcast and the time was around the afternoon, so I had a perfectly soft natural light to work with.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3500, with a 70-300 mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR Lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I had been to this place a lot of times and this was the first time the aviary was open, so naturally, people were crowding to see the colourful birds. This bird was one of the largest and most colourful in the area and the glass in front of the enclosure was comparatively clean. Moreover, the bird was perched at a height and looked straight at the camera. All these situations allowed me to take the perfect shot of this cute bird.Editing
No post-processing was used for this photo. This photo turned out good right from the camera. In my camera bag
In my bag, I usually carry a Nikon D3500 Body and a GoPro Hero 2018. About lenses, I usually have: 1. Nikon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-P Lens 2. Nikon AF-P DX 70-300 mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR Lens 3. Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8G Prime Lens Apart from this, I have a couple of CPL filters and a reverse mount for the 18-55 lens. I also have a number of SD cards in the bag and a spare battery.Feedback
