Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo in my living room, under a window. Our dog was very sick and could not jump up on couches or our beds, so I made her a special spot with old blankets.Time
I want to say this was taken between 9 and 11am. The sun rises on this side of the house, so we always get some really nice, natural light during this time.Lighting
Keep the harsh lighting behind subject to keep them from being “whited out”, and to create a glow.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Canon Rebel t6i and a Canon 50mm 1.8 lens.Inspiration
Our family dog fell ill in late September and it was just one thing after another. She just kept getting sicker and sicker, wasn’t eating much, couldn’t move very well, etc. Mind you, she was only 2. We weren’t sure how much longer she would be with us, so I wanted to take some good photos of her to remember her by.Editing
I messed with lighting and colors a little bit in Lightroom, but not much else.In my camera bag
I normally have my Canon 5D, my Canon Rebel t6i, my 50mm lens, with UV filter and hood, and my 20-135mm lens and hood. I’m on the smaller size, so I try to keep my bag light, otherwise it’s a pain to carry during shoots.Feedback
You’d be surprised how something so simple can make for a beautiful photo. In most lighting situations, I try to keep the harsh sun/light behind my subject to create a nice glow behind them.
