I love how the clouds almost seem to mimic the flora in the foreground!!! Wonderful!!!

Behind The Lens

Location

I chased this sunset to Shell Beach, CA, about 15 minutes south from where I live.

Time

As I rode the bus home from work, I couldn’t take my eyes off the cloudscape. As soon as I got home I ran inside to grab my car keys and jet out to the coast to try and catch the winter sunset.

Lighting

I always remind myself to hang around awhile after the sun sets. The colors often times, get richer before they fade into nightfall.

Equipment

I’m an amateur photographer and this was taken with my iPhone XR before I got my SONY.

Inspiration

The cloudscape and colors, framed with the bougainvilleas just made for a lot of beauty all around.

Editing

I often use Snapseed for quick edits. I believe boosted the ambiance and saturation just a bit. It didn’t need much!

In my camera bag

Then, I carried my phone in my pocket with some attachable lenses: one wide angle and one macro. Now, you’ll see me with my SONY a6000 around my neck, always wrapped in my home-sewn strap cover made from a bandana with Velcro. Makes for a lot of comfort while wearing for a long time, especially while I hike with it on. In my hydration backpack I also have a travel tripod, filters, and hiking supplies like a first aid kit, bug spray and sunscreen.

Feedback

Chase sunsets, you’ll rarely be disappointed.
