Location
this photo was taken in one of my most favorite locations - the Dead sea in IsraelTime
This is a sunrise shot. for this we woke up at 03:00am and drove about 1.5 hours, went down to the beach on a rocky "broken" land to locate interesting salt formationsLighting
Every cloudy sunrise is surprising. in this morning we thought there will be no interesting light due to very thick clouds cover but, just at the right time, the clouds moved to allow the sun shine and paintthe sky in these amazing colorsEquipment
This was shot with my Nikon D810 and Nikon 16-35 lens at 16mm, using also a tripod and LEE filters, 3 stops GND and 3 stops full.Inspiration
I named this photo "decent to hell". the formation of the salt reminded me a combination of both staircase and also kind of jaws. the very dramatic burning sky added to the appocaliptic feeling.Editing
I only did some adjustments in Lightroom using mainly the "basic" section and some targeted adjustments separately to the sky and foreground using the gradient tool.In my camera bag
My bag always has in it my 2 cameras (Nikon D810 and Nikon D610) and 4 lenses - 16-35, 70-200, 24-120 and 14, a tripod (sometimes 2). I also always carry my LEE filters set and some maintenance toolsFeedback
When you find a location you love, visit it on a regular basis. I've been to this location numerous times and always find interesting compositions. Each visit has its own, special lighting which always donate to the overwhole athmosphere of the scene. Also, when shooting in the sea shore, don't be afraid to get wet...
