Location
This photo is of downtown Rochester, NY. I love walking along rivers and capturing all they have to offer to the eye.Time
This photo was taken late into the evening after the sun had cleared the sunset and I could get as black as possible canopy in the background. It was shortly after 6:00pm in October so it was getting dark early.Lighting
I wanted the viewer to stop and follow the bridge lines with all the lighting surrounding it. I love the colors in this scene and wanted to use the bridge leading lines to lead the viewer around the scene.Equipment
This was shot with a canon 7dMKii and a Canon 17-40L. I esxposed for 30 seconds to smooth out the river. ISO 100 f6.3. Shot from a tripod on a timer to avoid the shake.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this photo by the bridge and its leading lines over the water. Additionally the colors drew me into the scene and I wanted to share it with my family.Editing
Adjusted levels a little in lightroom to lower highs and sharpen a little. In my camera bag
I travel for my day job and I always bring my backpack of gear with me. Usually if you see me at the airport I'll have my tan backpack loaded with the 7d, 17-40L, 70-200L, and 28-105L. If I know there are going to be great skylines I'll bring my tripod.Feedback
My advice to others is bring your gear and try. You won't capture anything if you don't bring it and there are nice little surprises in every city. Go try to find them and share.
