Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken walking through Rockcliffe Park and the Rockeries; a 137 hectare designated urban park in Ottawa, Canada since the 1800's.

Time

I had returned home to be with my parents as dad was having surgery. When I was able I'd go to any of the parks nearby seeking solace, tranquility and hope. Oct 19, 2019 4:05pm

Lighting

The sunlight shining through the branches, dancing off the autumn coloured leaves and at the end of the path speaks to why I was there.

Equipment

Sony a6000 with 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

Inspiration

In Chinese culture red is a symbol of joy and luck; yellow, of freedom from material needs; green of regeneration, hope, harmony and growth. Perfect!

Editing

For this photo I adjusted highlights, shadows, contrast and hues.

In my camera bag

The gear I carry with me varies depending on where and purpose. My Sony a6000 is of course essential. Lenses include Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6, Sony 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3, however my new favorite is my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 DXII with adaptor. If I am photographing in the water, either my Olympus Tough TG-5 or my Sony a6000, Samyang 8mm f/2.8 with Liquid Eye housing.

Feedback

Advice I often forget myself. Don't get wrapped up or obsessed with the technicalities of the "perfect" shot. When immersed in your surroundings, free of noise in your brain, the world looks different and will speak with you.
