I took this photo as I was walking along the beach on the island of Maui, just outside of where we were staying.Time
It was after dinner in the evening as the gentle breeze moved the clouds through the sunset, exposing the island in the distance. The waters were still and I wanted to capture the moment!Lighting
I would have to say it was pretty much natural lighting, since it was shot outdoors as the sun was setting.Equipment
I wish I could say that I used an expensive camera, tripod or lens, but I have never owned a camera. I am a designer with an extremely creative mind. One that sometimes keeps me up all night long. Yes, I did do a little post-processing. The photo needed to be cropped and I wanted to create a silhouette of the lonely palm, so I darkened it slightly. The placement of the palm was more pleasing to the eye when I moved it off center in my cropping.In my camera bag
Being a beginner in photography, my bag is pretty empty right now. I usually make sure that I have my phone charger, so that I can start shooting at a moment’s notice! I have since upgraded to the iPhone 12, which was given to me as a birthday gift! I only wanted it for the camera features!Feedback
My advice would be to always keep your eyes wide open for the beauty that surrounds us. Never stop learning about new ideas or new ways to be creative. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or if you’re a professional, do whatever you’re passionate about and it will show in your work and in your life!
