Behind The Lens

Location

I captured this photo from this angle to show my 7 year old son that things can sometimes look another scarier than they are

Time

It was just before sundown on a very warm summer day.

Lighting

I wanted to make it look like the neighbor's house was under attack. At that particular point in the day, I was able to use the shadows to my advantage.

Equipment

I used an LG G4, which had a pretty decent camera. With any of my cellphone pictures, all auto settings are turned off and any filtering is applied later.

Inspiration

My son and I were terrified of spiders. I want him to be less afraid than I am so I began picturing them and letting him enjoy the pictures. As I've had to get closer to them I've also become far less afraid of them. So this has been something we've both benefitted from.

Editing

I played with the shadows and made sure not to oversaturate this one. I didn't want the colors to become muddy or chalky.

In my camera bag

Now I'm using a galaxy s20 with autosettings off. I don't really use anything else.

Feedback

Don't be afraid to just get right in there. They really won't bother you. Cheers and have fun everyone.
