Behind The Lens

Location

This really was taken through the bedroom window of my home in Eastbourne. We have a small family of foxes who live in a small patch of land behind our flats who occasional come outside to sleep in the sunshine.

Time

This would have been early afternoon when the foxes like to doze in the sunshine. This one saw me photographing him and seemed to stop and pose for me.

Lighting

This was a spur of the moment shot so just the natural sunlight and not much planning involved.

Equipment

This was shot with my Nikon D3300 using my Sigma 150-600mm telephoto lens.

Inspiration

I love watching the foxes, squirrels and birds that we have live near us and always have my camera ready for when they make an appearance.

Editing

I cropped the image to focus on the beautiful face of the fox and tweaked the contrast and lighting a little. I’m not a professional photographer and only use iPhone apps at the moment for my editing and processing.

In my camera bag

My entire kit consists of a Nikon D3300 with its standard 18-55mm lens, and two Sigma telephoto lenses (70-300mm and 150-600mm). I always have my iPhone with me too for quick landscapes and wide shots.

Feedback

The important thing is to always be ready to snap whatever you see. I take hundreds of shots and spend a lot of time afterwards sorting through them for the images that really leap out at me or tell a story.
