Behind The Lens

Location

Next door neighbors’ garden.

Time

Mid-day

Lighting

The color of the garden shed door and the bokeh created a perfect grayscale background.

Equipment

Nikon Z6, 70-200 mm f/2.8 VR II, TC-20 E III extender, FTZ adapter.

Inspiration

Monarch butterflies have been rare lately. Spotted one from my window, grabbed my gear, and started shooting.

Editing

Normal, routine PP in Lightroom Classic.

In my camera bag

Usually keep that combination ready to go for nature and other spontaneous captures.

Feedback

Keep your eyes open and know where to look. But don’t have tunnel vision. A couple years ago, I was shooting butterflies and bees amongst flowers but did not look wider or higher to notice that the roof of the house in the background had just blown off.
