Thank you, Toni. My trip to North Wales (second in a month) set my mind whirring and contemplated Time Machine theories. I usually exert my heart rate to athlete's standards by walking and climbing during such expeditions, but on that afternoon the Gods of weather rolled up their sleeves and extended me a warm courtesy, by emptying their full bladders earthwards. In lieu of the look of a drowned rat, I opted to use the Heritage Railway and marvel at the river (running next to the track), swollen to the brim. There are places completely untainted by unregulated tourism here, which will will transport you to the days of yore. We were received at the station by solemn men with sideburns, in their starchy uniforms, wearing unique 19th century conductors' hats. We rolled at tortoise's pace and stopped to the old stations. We looked out the window, down the river and up in the sky and realised why this country's landscapes are so green. The sheep will agree with me, being the main beneficiaries. The sheep population here exceeds that of the New York harbour rats.

Thanks Kristina! Only sheep and rain in North Wales... well, as well as geological complexity that is hard to escape one's attention. This felt like a journey back in time, as I explained to Toni (above).
