Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the alpine lakes wilderness area, during a four day backpacking trip. We were scrambling up a ridge, I looked down to see my friends below and the lake where we’d camped last night in the distance.

Time

Late morning

Lighting

Pretty soon the clouds moved in and we spent the rest of the day socked in.

Equipment

Canon EOS R. 24-105 lens.

Inspiration

There were a lot of great views on this trip because we spent most of our time hiking high in ridgelines. The rugged snowy mountains and blue glacial lakes of the cascades are always inspiring.

Editing

Just corrected the white balance and exposure slightly in Lightroom, the light was changing pretty quickly with the fast moving clouds.

In my camera bag

When hiking I’m pretty concerned about weight and usually just carry the EOS R, 24-105 lens, spare battery, a polarizer and ND filter.

Feedback

It helps to have great scenery and friends with bright clothing to really pop against the landscape.
