Location

The photo was taken in Agno, Pangasinan which they called it The rock mushroom has been popularized by Nintendo’s Super Mario as power up items which is used to break down crystals, knock down heavy objects and roll over enemies. However, in some parts of the world such as Egypt, Israel, etc., these features are observed as naturally occurring pedestal rocks resembling mushrooms. In the Philippines, we have our own version of these structures, mostly exposed in Sitio Sabangan Norte of Barangay Boboy, Agno, Pangasinan, which fascinates tourists and nature enthusiasts. They are locally known as the “Umbrella Rocks”, resembling sprouting giant mushrooms dotting Sabangan Beach near the mouth of Balincaguing River.

Time

This is one of my favorite Milkyway image. I took this around 4.30am and walk a good distance to get some reflection of the rock formation.

Lighting

I wanted this image to look mysterious from different angle of the rock formation. Since Most of the shots are look the same as the tourist sees it.

Equipment

This was shot on a Fujifilm XT30 with Samyang 12mm F2. Partner with my favorite Manfrotto Tripod. We are rushing to this place since our first location was not good for our milkyway shot due to harsh light pollution. Milkyway is one of my favorite to took. So I want to have a epic shoot from other photographers that have took this area.

Editing

Landscape photography requires a lot of processing in this particular case, I processed single image only. First I process global adjustment and then masking the milkyway area to pop up some details of it.

In my camera bag

I used my favorite Lowepro Protactice BP AW II. To equip my 2 fuji bodies (Fuji XT2 and XT30 and 4 lenses which Samyang 12mm F2, XF10-24mm F4, Samyang 12mm F2, XC50-230mm. I also bring my Nisi Filters.

Feedback

Keep inspired!! Look for a better composition that haven't seen from social media. Plan your location with backed up plan for you to have a alternative spot to shot. Since landscape photography is one of the hardest due to unpredictable weather.
