I've been on the fence as to whether to share this photo I made at Unity Wood last weekend - on my first visit there. Just after I shot this, my battery died - and my spare was flat (schoolboy error!), but I thought I had something.

On reflection, I think this image would be greatly improved by a veil of mist to knock back the more distant trees. But, it was my first autumn shot of the year - so I had to share it!

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Anyway... I spotted this tree on a mound, with its tangle of moss-covered roots sprawling down the slope - amidst some fallen leaves for contrast. I thought it looked pretty cool!

I set up my shot from an opposing mound at a similar height. A polarising filter knocked back the shine on the leaves to give more depth of colour to the image.

Canon 6D MkII | 24-105mm lens at 95mm | ƒ-8 | 1-4 sec | ISO 400 | Hoya Polarising Filter | Tripod | Taken 22-08-2019 at Unity Wood, Scorrier
