Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Ballito and the place is called Hole in the Wall - Ballito is situated in Durban, South Africa.

Time

This really is one of my all time time favorite photo's. My fiancee and I had an early morning, we had booked a couple's photoshoot in advance and this was the morning of our photoshoot. We met our photographer at a known location and we traveled together to the location. We got to Hole in the Wall at about 5:30PM, and was about 70KM from home. While the photographer was busy taking out portraits of my fiancee, I decided to snap my own pictures and had managed to take out this perfect image. Date and time stamp: 15 Sep 2019, 06:57AM

Lighting

Yes, we planned to, and made it to Hole in the Wall at sunrise for the perfect photoshoot, so the lighting was just perfect.

Equipment

I used my mobile device which is a Huawei P10 Lite - no external lenses, no tripod, no flash, just my P10 Lite and the the light of the sun.

Inspiration

I saw the waves below and I was at a point where I thought if I lay down and overlook the ocean, it would be a perfect picture moment. And I was correct!

Editing

No post processing whatsoever. The picture is unedited.

In my camera bag

Well I normally carry my Fujifilm S1800, quite a decent old SLR. Unfortunately 2 months ago I was busy driving on the N2 going to work and had my camera in my clothing bag in the boot of my car. I had to come to a sudden stop while driving around 110km/h as I got cut off by a taxi, and everything that was in my car flew to the front. My camera screen got destroyed after the bag flew into the back seat of my car. Now I don't currently have a camera.

Feedback

Trust your instincts, if you believe that you can take out the perfect image, go ahead! Don't ever doubt yourself.
