Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in New York City, two blocks away from Times Square at Manhattan henge days. Manhattanhenge is an event during which the setting sun or the rising sun is aligned with the east–west streets of the main street grid of Manhattan, New York City.

Time

evening in July shortly before the sunset in new York. As described below these were teh days of Manhattamhenge.

Lighting

I tried some photos. Was not so easy because of all the traffic in New York city. The bus stopped only for a few seconds and the street was empty

Equipment

I used my Canon 5d II and the lens was 16-35mm Canon lens. The picture is a combination of 3 shots (-2 / 0 / +2)

Inspiration

i was on a trip to new York city. And there are only a couple of days with this kind of sunset. So the photo happend more by accident. I was walking with my wife to Time Sqaure when we saw the sunset.

Editing

I used Aurora HDR to bring the 3 photos together, without the typical HDR look. the rest happend in Lightroom ( some adjustments)

In my camera bag

Dependeing in the destination I have one or two Canon 5d II. Lenses for city trips is my 24-105 and 16-35. Sometimes I take my Canon 70-200 II.

Feedback

try a lot of pictures and choose your best 3 shots. Spend time for post processing of the image
