I took this photo at the front door of my home in Caesarea, Ontario. He was sitting on my cement poodle that resembled one of my own poodles named Sandy.Time
This photo was taken in late afternoon on a cloudy but partially sunny day. It was a Fall day when they go to sleep only to not last the winter months ahead. He actually waved one arm before he went to sleep. I was totally moved by this gesture.Lighting
I only used the natural light of the day. A partly cloudy day with some sun. The natural light illuminated the paint on the cement poodle that this Praying Mantis was sitting on.Equipment
This photo was taken with my Nikon Coolpix 99S point and shoot.Inspiration
I had never seen a brown Praying Mantis only green ones. In the 22 years that I lived here...I only saw a Green Praying Mantis twice, so when I saw this brown one, I knew I had to capture him on film.Editing

I’m just a beginner with no experience ... just shoot what you can and what looks interesting. You never know, you just may get a photo that you can enjoy for years to come. I’m proud of this picture and every time I see it, I remember that little Praying Mantis waving at me.
