Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo when I went to Taiwan for the first time with my wife. I do photography as a hobby and I have a diploma in photography through an online course. I simply love photography ever since I was a kid.

Time

I really took time taking this photo around 3PM as we were touring around the place. The adventure, experience and beauty of nature was truly awesome.

Lighting

Lighting was good for this photo because it needs to bedarker than usual to take the long exposure shot. This way you can see the waterfall very smooth in the photo. Lighting which is not that bright was suitable to get this photo.

Equipment

This was taken with Nikon D7500 with a 10-20mm Nikkor Lens. No tripod was used that time as the camera was placed in an edge of the bridge.

Inspiration

I really like doing landscape/waterfalls and long exposure photos and it is great that time as we are exploring nature in Taiwan. I am always inspired to take photo when we travel as I really love photography.

Editing

Yes, I try my best to adjust each like saturation, sharpness and other elements depending on how I see fit to make the photo look better. I adjust the numbers manually in each element during the post-processing.

In my camera bag

I usually have the camera body, 3 lenses which includes prime lens, wide lens and zoom lens. I also bring flashes, tripod, memory cards, chargers, remote, modifiers, filters and batteries. This is my photography bag but if for travelling, I only bring the camera body, lens, memory cards, charger, filters and batteries.

Feedback

Try to practice long exposure shots, rule of thirds, and the exposure triangle. You need to basically practice these 3 to be able to have this shot. Long exposure makes the water look smooth, rule of thirds makes your composition or frame look good and exposure triangle makes the lighting good for your shot especially since you will be doing a long exposure shot.
