Location
The photo was taken in a small studio in Mojacar, southern Spain. The model, Pamela, is now a professional model based in Madrid.Time
MiddayLighting
Being a small studio there is not much room for sophisticated lighting equipment. For this shot I used two strobe lights, one as the main positioned to the model's left and the other as a fill in. I like to use Rembrandt lighting for portraits but, for this, I had to make sure the lighting covered the half length of the model sufficiently.Equipment
Nikon D7000 with a Nikon 18-140mm lens at 34mm (equivalent to 51mm).Inspiration
This was one of a few sessions I did with Pamela over one summer, it was cooler inside the studio than outside! There was a variety of clothing in the studio and we did a lot of shots in different outfits. I thought it would be a different type of approach to photograph a pretty girl in a white-collar busineess look.Editing
Very little as I try to get as much right in the camera as I can. This shot just needed a little adjustment to the brightness and contrast. In my camera bag
I've recently updated my gear and now use a Nikon D5600 coupled with a Nikon 16-80mm. I also carry a Lensbaby Velvet 56, which I like to use for macro work, and an old 24mm Sigma manual focus which usually comes out for long exposure shots.Feedback
The theory is that with studio work everything is under your control. My advice is to make sure you get the lighting right (try switching some off and moving them around to get something different) and have a good rapport with the model. I'd worked with Pamela before so knew what she would bring to the session.
