Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my home studio in Hubli. I am s self taught photographer, collecting bits of information off the Internet and YouTube etc.

Time

This is one of my best shots at water crown photography, I remember it was the time of the day around 3pm in the afternoon, I dint have a Tripod, so I used a pile of books and a stone the balance it at the level of the water. Fun fact!, neither did I have the water dripping equipment, I mended a metal cloth hanger and hung a smaller zipper pack to it with holes big enough for a large drop to make a splash. I filled a microwave bowl to the brim at the door of our terrace so it would give a perfect reflection.

Lighting

I wanted to make the water crown stand out, all I did was I clicked the picture against the sun so the water would reflect it and give a perfect shiny reflection.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 550D with a 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

I was trying to shot pictures indoor, and all I got was water drop photography that was macro and crystal clear and marvelous to the eye, but it was all captured with proper equipments, but then thought why don't I try it out without any equipment, so I did!, with books as a Tripod, a hanger and a zipper pack as a dripping system.

Editing

Usually this type of photography needs to be in focus and shot at a high speed, which it was!!, since the sun was too bright I lost a little of the saturation. I just tuned up the saturation and it was all perfect

In my camera bag

At the time I clicked this picture all I had was my Canon 550D and a 18-55mm lens. But now in my bag I have, Canon 550D,a 18-55mm kit lens, 55mm f1.8 prime lens, 55-250mm lens, also I have my lens filters, flash, spare memory card and also my lens mug.

Feedback

Anyone could try this shot, it's pretty much all about the focus and most of all patience! Plan ahead of about the equipment and the settings, get to know about your camera. You could use a flash, but natural lighting always gives a special touch. Happy clicking!
