Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside my studio. I took part in a program called the "Pollinator trail" a group of business', several villages and our national park, all took part in it. The goal was to have flowers that are best for our local pollinators (such as bee's and butterflies) It was an effort put forward to help out our environment, and they were super pretty too :)

Time

This was in the afternoon. It was a nice sunny day outside.

Lighting

This was taken with natural light. No other lighting was used.

Equipment

I used my camera. Nothing fancy as far as equipment is concerned.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the beauty of the flowers. I was very proud to take part in the "Pollinator Trail" program and look forward to doing it again. Flowers can bring such a sense of peace, and when they are planted for a good cause it only heightens their natural beauty.

Editing

I always do little touch ups in Photoshop. For this one in particular I brought out the cool tones. It was a sunny day creating warm light but I wanted to keep with cool tones since the flower is a shade of purple.

In my camera bag

In my bag I carry; My camera, extra lens, cleaning kit, snacks lol

Feedback

This was not my first attempt at trying to get a good shot of these flowers. When working with close-ups and plant life (especially if your outdoors) I suggest picking a day with little to no wind. If the subject is blowing back and forth it can create a blurriness to the image which upping your shutter speed isn't always a fix for, as then it can result in your image being darker than you like.
