Behind The Lens

Location

I had heard of Byron Bay and wanted my own photo of this regional icon for myself, so travelled up and checked it out.

Time

It was mid afternoon by the time I found a park and walked up the hill. I took a few shots along the way. It's a beautiful area and there were many walkers - tourists and locals. I had to wait and take my chances with shots without people in.

Lighting

The light was bright, harsh even and it was quite warm. I had to consider the best place to stand for myself in the shade behind the Kiosk there.

Equipment

This was taken handheld leaning against the side of a outbuilding, with my old Canon 600D and the kit 70-200 mm lens.

Inspiration

I really just wanted a picture of this icon for myself...one that I took...not one of the many, many commercial ones available...to frame and put on a wall at home...

Editing

I just used an simple auto adjust from my Corel suite...One click...I didn't think it needed anything much.

In my camera bag

Now I take a small triangular shoulder bag with my Canon 90D, 18-135 mm and 50mm lens, a few bits 'n' pieces: lens ball, remote, pegs, pen & paper, wallet, phone, small cleaning kit and I just bought an arsenal gizmo which I am yet to try. I do take my tripod but rarely use it..I like the feel of my camera in my hands and looking through the eye price rather than the screen at the back.

Feedback

Patience, take the opportunity as it arises, think of your settings before hand, and mostly enjoy yourself!!!
