Beautiful shot of the FA-18 on the verge of Mach 1 ! I grew up with my dad in the USAF, and witnessed a lot of these.

Location
This shot was taken towards the end of a 9 hour international flying display in England at a place called RAF FairfordTime
This photo was taken at 17:27:50 in 80% cloud cover. I was lucky to get this shot with any blue sky.Lighting
That day the weather stayed dry unlike the torrential rain we had all day the day before. There were thick black clouds with only brief patches of blue sky so the light was grey and dull making photography less than ideal. Wish the air moisture level high several displaying aircraft and helicopters were able to produre the fluff effect.Equipment
That afternoon i was using a Nikon D5200 with a Sigma 150-500 handheld for fast moving military aircraft. The EXIF was 640/1sec at f7.1 - ISO 125Inspiration
The Royal International Air Tattoo held at RAF Fairford is my favourite airshow of the year. A 3 day event that i have been attening since the mid 1980s. Every year military air arms from all over the world display to the crowds. For the last 5 years i have turned the event from a day trip into either staying at a hotel or stay on a campsite for 4 or 7 nights to catch the events arrivals , 3 show days and departures.Editing
I used Lightroom to turn this RAW into JPG.In my camera bag
For airshows i carry 2 Nikon D5200 attached to Sigma 18-300 and Sigma 150-500.Feedback
Airshow photography depends on weather conditions. On overcast days military aircraft will do a flat display to keep under the cloud level .
