Location
This photo was taken in the heart of the Louisiana Bayou along the big canal that goes thru the town of Jean Lafitte where we were staying for a few months.Time
It was around late noon, early afternoon, I would guess when we were taking a drive along the canal and it was very hot.Lighting
The full sun, bright high noon daylight seemed perfect.Equipment
This was shot with my Samsung Duos smart phone camera :)Inspiration
As we were driving along the canal, exploring the local bayou along Jean Lafitte Boulevard, I saw this shrimp boat lying all alone there and when I got closer I noticed it was called Miss Billie. My name being Billie and me having grown up at the North Sea in several fisherman towns it was calling out to me to eternalize it. When I was little the fisherman shipyard at the end of the fish mine in Zeebruges used to be my playground, me smelling the water, hearing the sounds of the boats and then discovering a boat wearing my name, well you can just imagine what I felt...Editing
As I love black and white photography, I changed it from a color photograph to black and white. I also cropped the photo in a way to put the complete focus on the "Miss Billie" ship.In my camera bag
I'm not a professional photographer so whatever takes a pic does the job with me. And since I mostly have my smart phone on me, that's what I have in my bag.Feedback
Just use your eyes and whatever camera you have will do the trick to focus in on what kind of memory you want to preserve. And to take a few shots of the same subject as one versus the other will always be a little better to your liking.
