Behind The Lens

Location

Taken at a burlesque and cabaret night at a small venue I help out with in Glasgow.

Time

Evening of course as it was a live event.

Lighting

The lighting was the flame. We'd turned the house lights down for this part of the performance, so I had to work with what you can see here.

Equipment

Camera - Canon EOS 80D, Sigma art 50-100 f1/8 lens @ f1.8. ISO probably around 1600

Inspiration

At a live event there's no time for inspiration, we shoot on the go and try to get the best we can under whatever circumstances we're in.

Editing

Not much post processing, a little sharpening and contrast if anything.

In my camera bag

Depends on whether I'm shooting landscapes, urban stuff, or live events. For the live stuff I rely on 3 lenses, the Sigma 50-100 mentioned above, a Sigma Art 20mm f1.4, and a Sigma 18-55 f2.8. I really need a second body though so I'm not changing lenses too often.

Feedback

Practice, and ask folk who shoot these kind of things for tips.
