I took this photo in the kitchen of my home. I was frustrated with a photographic project I had undertaking to acquire more skill with digital photography.Time
It was at night. i set up a white backdropLighting
I used two strobes, left and right and one overhead directly down then chased as much shadow as possible with silver reflectorsEquipment
Canon EOS 40D Canon 40D, Canon 100mm f2 lens, WSF Tripod with Manfrofo Head, 3 Strobes brand forgotten, Minolta Lightmeter ?ISO 100?Shutter 1/250?Focal Length 50/1?Inspiration
As I had mentioned before, I was frustrated at the deadline and my lack of imagination. As I was packing away some fruit from the day's shopping and it ocurred to me to shoot a bowl of fruit; nothing worked until I cut an apple in half. My wife suggested placing a plant in the between the halves and so on...Editing
This was difficult as my skills were mainly in the darkroom, and I was still experimenting with digital and its associated software. i had Adobe Lightroom aand used it to tidy flaws missed in the apple .In my camera bag
Then I carried the Canon EOS 40D apc-s Digital with 24-70 USM f2.8 Zoom lens, 50mmUSM f1.8 Spare Batteries, Minolta LightMeter Canon EOS 30d Canon EOS 100mm F2 USMFeedback
I prefer to work in a studio as the light is stable, the master photographer can create a scene in the studio very close to a setting under natural light. Working with perishables means you must know in advance what you want to se in the final shot and set your lights, reflectors and all settings before you cut into your apple.
