Location
This is the otherworldly Mammoth Hot Springs of Yellowstone National Park. It is a corregated limestone behemoth stained in crystallized streaks of amber and ochre, looming over a chromatic oasis of sulfuric wellsprings surrounded by a plain of ashy desolation, skewered by the charred and twisted husks of ancient trees.Time

A heavy downpour had just come and gone in the blink of an eye, leaving behind brilliant sunlight that refracted off the landscape and made everything seem more vivid.Equipment

Mammoth Springs is an iconic location, famed for its stepped pools, but this particular vantage point drew me in much moreso. The twisted, charred trees amongst the stark yellows and greens of the surrounding area seemed almost unearthly, a landcape only described in a fantasy novel.Editing

A landscape like this can be easily overlooked as there is relatively little to actually look at. Have patience, and a willingness to look at it from different perspectives. Imagine what such a landscape could become with the right storyteller describing it.
