Location
I took this photo in Antarctica between McMurdo Station and Pegasus ice runway.Time
Hard to remember since it was 24 hours sun up daylight. It was the Southern Hemisphere summer. My first if 2 tours working there October- FebruaryLighting
Antarctica is very contrasty when the sun is out but very flat when overcast. The contours of the landscape and horizon are hard to seeEquipment
Canon 6D 28-300mm. No flash. I didn’t really need the tele reach.Inspiration
They were part of a group of about 20 molting juveniles. They are miserable and hate moving. They are so chill and have no fear- only curiousity. They let me sit in their group and observe and take pix. These 2 seemed to bond more than the others. Making their little throaty grunts at each other. Probably figuring out if they would be mates.Editing
I use Lightroom. Since it was flat light and no flash, I brought up the exposure and shadows with some contrast. In my camera bag
Canon w 24-105 , 28-300, pair of lume cubes, a flash and diffuser sleeve.Feedback
Be patient and go places that will surprise ppl with the environment you capture. Be different go slightly off kilter of the normal places to visit, the less or not at all advertised
