Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at the Forecastle Music Festival in Louisville, Kentucky.Time
The shot was taken right after the golden hour as the headlining band was beginning their performance that evening.Lighting
I took advantage of the stage lighting, hitting the front row of the audience. I had to wait for the lighting director to throw out the stage lights on the crowd to get this shot.Equipment
I was using my Canon 5D Mark III with a Canon 15mm 2.8 fisheye lens.Inspiration
I wanted to capture the audience enjoying the music since concert photography isn't always about documenting the band but the entire experience.Editing
This shot wasn't editing too much in the post, making some slight adjustments on color balance, highlights, and shadows. In my camera bag
For concert photography, I normally have two camera bodies with a wide-angle and tight lens. I have a Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 5D Mark IV with a series of zoom lenses. My Canon 16-35mm 2.8, Canon 24-70mm 2.8, Canon 70-200mm 2.8, and my Canon 15mm 2.8 fisheye lens. I also normally have extra memory cards and batteries as well.Feedback
My advice to get something similar is to study the light conditions and wait for that right moment to capture the magic.
