Location
The photo was taken on the route of the seven lakes, a very famous route in northern Patagonia. Literally on the side of the road.Time
In the afternoonLighting
I liked the backlight and how the transparency of flowers lets in some light. I squeezed the dynamic range out of my D500.Equipment
Nikon D500, Nikon 10.5 2.8, no tripod, no flash.Inspiration
We returned from a 3 day camp and my son Luca needed a technical stop, luckily for me the lupines were ready and waiting for me, I just had to grab my camera, look for a nice frame and capture the moment.Editing
Most of the time I take photos in jpg and do very little post. In this particular photo I only corrected the shadows and highlights a bit. In fact you can see that there are lens flares. I am a photographer, not a digital retoucher. In my camera bag
In my F-stop Tilopa backpack my basic equipment is a Nikon D500 body, a Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR2 lens, Nikon 17-55 2.8 DX lens, Nikon 10.5 2.8 DX lens. Batteries and memories. Eventually depending on the situation I carry a Nikon Sb900 flash, Yongnuo remote triggers. Tripod or monopod if necessary, cable release for long exposure, ND filter, Polarized filter. As I live in the mountains I always carry a hat, gloves, buff, snacks, flashlight, knife and camelback.Feedback
Many times the photo is just there, you have to capture the light as it is. It is clear that there are ideal moments but you never demean a quick photo may surprise you.
