Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Union Station during our vacation in Washington DC. We loved going to Union Station almost every day on our tour of different parts of the city.

Time

This photo was taken at mid day..we ate and came upstairs just looking around in the small shops.

Lighting

The lighting was a mix of mid day natural light, and indoor light so it gave a unique combination for this photo. I love natural lighting most but when I need to I adjust.

Equipment

I used my Nikon d5600, that my husband surprised me with specifically for this trip to Washington DC. The lens was the 18mm, 1/60 sec. f/3.5.

Inspiration

I was inspired from the excitement of Union Station with people just going on their way dressed either for work, school or just shopping. I loved the architecture and the way the natural lighting was coming through the window and hitting the ceiling.

Editing

I did some edits but because I didnt want to take away from the lighting and shadows it was just a simple edit program from my computer.

In my camera bag

The equipment I use varies. Have both a Nikon d5600, and a Canon EOS Rebel t6. I do carry my Nikon with me most though because for me there is less play.

Feedback

My advice would be that no matter what camera you use, be deliberate when you are learning. Take photos from different angles and in different lighting. Try to use soft natural light because I feel it will give you the best results. Have fun most of all and be creative.
