The dog happened to be sitting near a window that brought in some nice light. The sun wasn't as direct as it could be earlier in the morning and really made the colors and textures in his fur stand out, without being too bright.Equipment
Because I was afraid I'd lose the moment, I grabbed my iPhone and shot away. Had I gone to get my camera bag, I think he would've followed and I'd have lost my shot.Inspiration
My dog always inspires me. He's a petite basset griffon vendeen (PBGV), and a breed not many people know. I've owned many dogs, but this breed has a serious personality. I find it a challenge to try to capture the many moods of Milo (the PBGV) on film. This one spoke to his tolerance; a direct stare that told me he'd wait for me to take the shot, but not too much longer.Editing
I did a little to make the colors pop, though it was taken a while ago and I can't remember exactly what I used.In my camera bag
I usually shoot with a Panasonic Lumix. I keep a flash and multiple lenses in the bag. Plus, spare batteries and disk. Because you never know when you'll need a spare.Feedback
Animal shots aren't always easy to get. Taking many photos, quickly and at many different angles, with a moving object is your best bet. If you're lucky, you'll end up with one or two good shots.
