Location
This photo was taken during a motocross race held near my home in Kerala. Its a place called Muvattapuzha where this race is held almost annually.Time
It was mid day almost with the sun blazing hot, must be around 2-2:30 pm. The sand and the heat made up for some spectacular action. I braved the elements of nature to get this image.Lighting
It was an open field, sun at the most shining part and at top. The green trees and the sand acted a differentiating and perfect background for this image.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5300 camera with 55-200 mm f/4 - f/5.6 kit lens. I used zoom lens to get up close with the riders and also keeping me at a safe distance from their way.Inspiration
The sheer effort and dedication that the motocross riders showed, that too in that blistering heat, was my inspiration to frame them in the action and get this shot. Also some of the photographers like Ankit Sharma and Ashik Thomas who I follow on Instagram, they have inspired me for this kind of image.Editing
I basically brought up the vibrance to show up the sand and dust and also the overall scene. Also applied radial blur to bring out the riders from the background as my aperture was limited to f/5.6In my camera bag
My camera bag has my Nikon D5300 with usually three lens to carry around. 35 mm f/1.8, 50 mm f/1.8 and one zoom 55-200 mm. In addition to it I carry around 3 memory cards, my remote shutter, one ND filter and a micro fiber cloth. In situations like these where there is so much dust and nature elements, I also carry a blower to clean off the dust.Feedback
My advice would be try and see and experiment with different angles and positions to check from where you can get your best shot and also frame the riders, and the environment in which they are in the most true manner. Also to be patient and dedicated in the situations like these as most of the time nature elements may tire you out, so keep a water bottle handy and keep clicking !
