On a recent trip to Smith Oaks Rookery and Bird Sanctuary I decided to go to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge as well. While driving around the refuge I came across one spot where a few families of Purple Gallinules were foraging. After photographing two different families I found a lone Gallinule walking through the marsh grasses.
