We had driven from the South coast of Devon to the North coast and found this stunning dog friendly beach. We came upon this pepple sculpture that someone had left. The photo is a perfect reminder of what a beautiful place we found & even on the bleakest of days a little bit of art can brighten your day.

The photo was taken in North Devon on a typically gloomy summer day!Time
We had set off from the South Coast of Devon early morning to blue skies and sunshine. We hoped to arrive around lunchtime and with only a couple of traffic hold-ups we arrived pretty much on schedule to spend the afternoon here.Lighting
I'm no professional photographer at all! But I am a pencil artist and I think this helps a lot when choosing whether a photo lends itself to a black and white shot or not? The wet weather conditions added a superb shine to the wet stones giving the contrast something a little extra I think?Equipment
Although i had my trusty Canon in my backpack this was one of those snap it now or miss it moments with my dog so this was actually shot on my Samsung S7! No flash, no particular lense and no tripod as it was my phone!Inspiration
Someone had gone to a lot of effort creating a piece of art and leaving it for the next passer-by to appreciate and as an artist I did very much! My dog Bear having just run out of the sea came to look at what I was looking at and it just created the perfect moment.Editing
I might occasionally crop the picture or fiddle with contrast to gain the best tones. In my camera bag
Ooh! my Canon D700, an array of filters some of which I've not been brave enough to try yet! 2 or 3 lenses, a couple of spare batteries and a spare SD Card.Feedback
Wear something warm! Seriously, it's very difficult to take photos after a couple of hours out in those weather conditions! But just have fun and always look for photo opportunities. I arrived at this beach without a clue this fabulous pebble creation was going to be here but we came across it and now it will last forever!
