After studying the techniques for a while now, this is my first attempt at astrophotography. I clearly have much to learn…but am pleased with my first attempt. I’m working on my chops in hopes of attempting some Milky Way photography this summer in West Texas. This was from the very light-polluted locale of my suburban driveway...so I have high hopes for the light-starved, nightime desert this summer.

Nikon D5100; Yashica 28mm @ f2.8; ISO 500; 20 sec exposure; 30 second intervals; 182 images combined in Photoshop using 'Lighten' blending mode. Resources:
