Location
I took this photo in a friend's "potager" in Dordogne, France.Time
I went out for a walk in the afternoon, camera in hand, and came across this sunflower which stood out against the sky.Lighting
The natural light was a strange cross between sunshine and stormy skies which gave the sunflower an almost artificial appearance.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Nikon D7500, 16-80lendsInspiration
Have always enjoyed photographing flowers in all their stages and was playing around with my relatively new camera in a garden with plenty of raw material but this very tall sunflower had a magic of its own, specially as I was able to shoot it in such contrast with the background.Editing
I do little post-processing, mostly because I have yet to learn how to do it well! I simply tweaked the brightness and contrast slightly to enhance the overall image. In my camera bag
Depending on what I'm planning to shoot I sometimes go out with just my camera and my 16-80 lens or with my bag with a 70-300 lens, spare batteries, cards, tripod, nd filters, etc. I am always learning and venturing into areas of photography that I am not too comfortable with so I usually carry to much "just in case" equipment! Paring down the contents in my bag is also part of the learning process!Feedback
Keep shooting, never underestimate a simple subject and look at your subjects from "out of the box" angles.
