Location
This is the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse. It stands at the south end of the northern breakwater protecting the Chicago Harbor, east of Navy Pier and the mouth of the Chicago River.Time
I have taken lots of picture of the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse, mostly from Navy Pier, but on this gorgeous afternoon in September and we took the speedboat to drive out on Lake Michigan. This is the most favorite picture I took from the lighthouse.Lighting
It was great afternoon with enough light to get the shot from a shaking speed boat.Equipment
The picture was shot with a Sony alpha6000 with a simple kit lens (16-50mm) sitting on a rocking speedboat. I got a clear shot because I could up my shutter speed because of the bright sun and the beautiful blue sky.Inspiration
I just love this particular lighthouse and I think whenever I visited Chicago I took at least one picture. But this shot is my absolute favorite.Editing
I didn't do much post processing, just lowered the highlights and upped the saturation a little. In my camera bag
When I am walking around in the city, I travel light ... So, on this day, I only had my Sony camera with the kit lens and some extra batteries in my bag.Feedback
The weather is definitely an issue in Chicago. I have lots of pictures of the lighthouse but not all of them are so vibrant but have great clouds instead. If you want to get a close-up shot of the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse you need to get out on the lake, either with the speed boat, but there are are also lots of other possibilities that bring you near the light house, the Chicago Architecture Boat Tour, or the Riverboat are also a wonderful options. To be honest the speedboat was my favorite :)
