Tnx Sullie. Friend gave me this old lens and I wanted to make it kind of commercial shot and place it so the ?ight refracts on its glass for that "lens look". If you like ?y photos there are much newer ones at instagram @marko_stosic_photography

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on my balcony just ten minutes before sunset.

Time

It was just before sun got under horizon. The colors looked amazing to me and I decided "why not to shoot something like this".

Lighting

It was all natural "golden hour" sunset lighting. I wanted to position the object at an angle so the light will diffract through its coated lenses to achieve this colorofull lenses look.

Equipment

This was shot with my old Nikon D3100, and if I can remember the lens was 35mm f1.8 Nikkor prime.

Inspiration

I saw many photos of studio made shots of lenses and I decided to do something different, natural light, natural background, colors and texture to make metal lens pop out from natural surrounding.

Editing

I did just basic tonal and contrast adjustments in Adobe Lightroom and did some dust spots cleanup with healing tool in Photoshop. No photo manipulation or anything artificial. I like things in photos as closest as my eyes see them as they look.

In my camera bag

Now I have my Nikon D5600 with wide range of Nikkor lenses, both "modern" and manual vintage lenses. Polarizer filters, NDs, color filters and Infrared filter, solid tripod with ball head and I use my smartphone remote app to control everything on the camera.

Feedback

Just be creative and think "outside the box". Try to develop your own style over time and don't simply copy others. Learn about lighting because it is fundamental in photography. Use natural light as much and just shoot shoot shoot. Learn from mistakes and always be self critical. Don't over process your images because most of the time "less is more". Just play around and don't try to be "Pro" because more you try less you'll be. You can't force something which will come sooner ol later along your learning path. To be master in something the "road" is not so straight, there are many ups and downs, falls and get ups, but never give up. Great shots and opportunities are just behind the corner.
