According to one legend, the mountain of Bogda was formed from a sacred stone brought by Kalmyk pilgrims from the distant Tien Shan mountains.
One thing I know for sure is that this is a very conspicuous place among the Astrakhan steppes. And even though the mountain itself is not high, but noticeable for many kilometers in the steppe area, as well as the bright color from its eastern part, attracts a thousand tourists every year.
