Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a busy location in the northern suburbs of Athens.

Time

It was noon around 12 o'clock. It was a really sunny day and my issue was that since the light was so bright and harsh I would have definitely issues with shadows. So since I couldn't avoid these lighting conditions I tried to make them work for me more creatively.

Lighting

Simply harsh daylight.

Equipment

This shot was taken with a Canon 6D and a canon lens 40mm STM 2.8.

Inspiration

I am always inspired by the people I take photos of.

Editing

Yes, I had to balance the totally blue sky behind my model in order to have a balanced image, so I darkened slightly the sky by reducing the highlights, then I raised the shadows and I added some blacks for balance.

In my camera bag

I always have in my bag my Canon 6 D, my Canon 60D, my Canon 85mm USM 1.8, and my 35mm USM 2.0.

Feedback

I would say that, even if the very bright light frightens a lot of people due to the shadows, I believe that the harsh light can give you amazing results. I would recommend to photographers who haven't tried to take pictures in the sunny noon to go out and photograph. The only thing that they need is to practice. An, of course, love of what they do.
