Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken whilst out for a walk around the Lincoln area of the UK. It was close to a small church and had that 'lool' of belonging to another era.

Time

Taken mid afternoon with the sun behind me. Thus allowing for plenty of natural light.

Lighting

I didn't want to add any artificial lighting with the use of a flash. So waited until the natural light was plentiful to light up the whole area.

Equipment

I used a Canon 70D with a 35-70 lens. Handheld with no flash. I cannot recall the settings used and due to over-copying, the details are no longer in the properties of the file

Inspiration

I was particularly looking for images that would give atmosphere if displayed in b&w. This immediately gave me the impression of another era and sense of age.

Editing

The only post processing that I had to undertake, was to remove electrical cables that were across the space between the buildings, using CS4

In my camera bag

Obviously my Canon 70D. With a mixture of 3 different length lenses. A variable adjustable flash. Gorilla mini tripod. Spare batteries and SD cards. Lens brush, cleaner and cloth

Feedback

Take multiple shots with several settings. Take from different levels and positions. Don't be afraid to take dozens of shots, you only need to find the 'one' amongst them all. There's no such thing as a bad photo, just a better one. So by taking several, you increase the chances of getting that one.
