I always thought Hummingbirds were hard to photograph. Turns out all you need is a simple feeder and a small stick to attach to it and boom, a perched hummingbird.

Location
This was taken in my backyard in Redding, California.Time
The time of day for this photo was between 9 am and 10.Lighting
I had a lot of humming bird feeders in my yard placed around where I knew the sun would be at certain times of the day. This one is near a great spot for morning sun.Equipment
This was taken with a Nikon D850 and Nikon 200-500mm lens. No flash or tripod.Inspiration
Humming birds are some of my favorite birds to photograph. Once you establish a bond with a feeder it is easy to photograph them all day.Editing
Some post-processing with cropping and saturation adjustments. In my camera bag
Normally in my kit I will carry the Nikon D850 and D90. A 200-500mm, 24-120mm, 35mm, 20mm lens selection. Also, extra batteries, memory cards and a Mefoto CF tripod. Recently I have added a DJI Mini 2 Drone to my kit as well.Feedback
As always, I advise patience. Especially when shooting nature and wildlife. Some of the few subjects you cannot pose. Having patience will always pay off in the end and result in magnificent shots.
