I'll be honest, that although Versailles is stunning to see, I was not very comfortable there - signs of opulence can really bring me down.

I took some pictures and deliberately tried to not include the copious amount of gold shown pretty much everywhere.

The gardens were much more my cup of tea and despite the gorgeousness that was on display, I felt calm and serene there - even surrounded by crowds.
