Location
This photo was taken on a vacation I took to Asheville, North Carolina. The BnB I rented to station in the mountains amidst such beautiful, leafy foliage and I was so moved I had to capture it.Time
It was a gorgeous sunny morning and I'd woken up to the sound of birds and wind; ugh, it was so so serene and just laid and listened to nature's song for a while. Instinctively, I grabbed my camera and walked outside barefoot (mind you, I'm still in my pajamas, haha) and went to see what I could find. This particular photo is one of my favorites because I was able to capture a grasshopper sitting on one of the leaves! It felt like it was posing for me! I am completely self taught so moments like this photo really fortify my desire to capture the blessings of nature.Lighting
The sun is your friend!Equipment
I was gifted a Canon30D when I was 18 (I am 27 now) by a friend as a push to pursue my passion and I've only used that ever since. Using something 3lae feels like a sort of betrayal because I am oh so sentimental.Inspiration
Nature is my most favorite muse, and seeing how the sunlight dances with it was so inspiring. It was a sunny day with huge fluffy clouds that acted, in a way, like a soft box light would. I was capturing trees, and flowers, when I saw a little something out of the corner of my eye. I used my camera lens to zero in on the area and that's when I saw friend Grasshopper. I couldn't miss it! I captured about 20 different photos of it amongst its leafy home, and was double inspired because it seemed to be posing for me. Not once did it hop away in the time of my photo taking; it barely moved!Editing
Surprisingly enough, this photo didn't require much post work at all. I increased color saturation a bit to bring out the greenery, and slightly brought down the shadow and increased the highlight for an extra pop.In my camera bag
Im a very minimalist photographer. So I only ever carry my camera, and 3 rechargeable batteries.Feedback
