Visited the beautiful Navesink Twin Lights Historic Site in February 2019. While walking around the grounds, my eyes were drawn to the entrance of the Generator Building where the sunlight illuminated this masterpiece of early technology. This is the South Tower's Second Order Bivalve Rotating Fresnel Lens. No longer an active lighthouse, Twin Lights was decommissioned back in 1949, where the lens was removed and found its way to the Boston Museum of Science. In 1979, it was returned to Navesink and placed on display here in the Generator Building.
