Location
I took this photo in 1992 at the Mid Ohio Sports Car course.Time
The entire weekend was chilly and wet. This photo was taken during practice for the race sometime in the afternoon.Lighting
Overcast but good soft even lighting.Equipment
Canon F1 body with my favorite lens of all time Canon FD 200mm F2.8Inspiration
This racer, a Mazda RX792P, looked and sounded awe on the track. I love the way it spit flames and I shot a lot of film getting that shot.Editing
I shot Kodak High Speed Ektachrome for the original image and much later scanned the slide and just tweaked the exposure and added a slight sharpening filter with ArcSoft’s Photo Studio. In my camera bag
I still have my trusty Canon F1 body but it has been retired (needs work). In 2005 I went digital and I still use my Canon XT with kit 18-5mm and 70-300mm lenses. I want to upgrade soon.Feedback
Mid Ohio is a very photographer friendly race track. Generally it’s hot and humid and almost always rains at some point on race weekends. This race was an exception. It was never warmer than 60 degrees F with rain the entire time. I was never more miserable at a race. And I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!
